Gutturnio is one the first historical Italian D.O.C. (denominazione di origine controllata / controlled denomination of origin), 1967. The production is localized on the hills near Piacenza, the last town in Emilia Romagna region, close to Lombardy. Gutturnio is the most important wine of the area, the denomination “Classico” confirms it is origin in the historical and most important area of vinification: Ziano Piacentino and part of other 8 small villages around it.
The denomination “Riserva” give us the information about the ageing, much higher than a standard Gutturnio. With Pleione it is done for 20 months in oak barrels and, at least, other 6 months in bottle.
